Refurbishment - City Hall, Norwich

New Customer Contact Centre

DBS are proud to have carried out these works for Norse - Norwich City Council's vision of a new customer contact centre, to turn the old tired closed off areas of offices and hall into a fresh, Open-Plan “modern, welcoming & flexible space”

The works were carried out in a tight timescale, the council had to set up and provide a temporary centre for the people of Norwich, and with these changes the dates could not slip.

The works were completed on time and on budget

Refurbishment - DWP, Thetford

Creation of a new 'One Stop Service Hub'

DBS were engaged by Breckland Council to create a new shared facility over 2 floors in a live 8 storey building. The building contained several large organisations including regional revenue/call service and data centre, so noise levels and non-interruption of services were paramount

The ground floor of Breckland House was a warren of tiny offices adapted over the years and was totally unsuitable for todays modern working. So we were engaged to create a new open plan workspace, this new area was to be used by Breckland Customer services who were the current users and to move in Thetford's Department for Work and Pensions.

This was a complicated project with a fixed deadline due to expiring leases. During the initial negotiations the works were hampered by a change of minister for welfare and a general election but this was not to delay the works, limited storage and minimal parking also had to be considered during all works.

DBS worked on this from inception to completion including: -

> Going out to tender & tender evaluation

> Design and creation of a temporary Customer Services centre on a separate floor

> Designing and adapting plans to fit in the new tighter space that the DWP were used to

> Holding meetings with all stakeholders to ensure their relative requirements and expectations were met

> Sympathetic change management.

> Ensuring all construction works were carried out to plan and updated constantly

> Ensuring the timely delivery of all installations and commissioning

This was a full on project for DBS to arrange everything from the design of furniture and the size of each desk to fit the number of staff in, ensuring the staff's individual needs were fully captured in this process, ensuring all current legislation was followed, building control, moving and installing servers, creating adaptable meeting/office spaces with folding sound proof doors  and everything else required even down to supplying the kettle in the new staffroom


Although very challenging the works were delivered on time and under budget.
